I have I believe every book written by Robert Collier and have been a raving fan for many years. One of my greatest treasures in my library is the Book of Life ( later Secret of the Ages ) seven volume series. The volumes are not leather but leather like and are beautiful. Just holding books of that era with that type of content is good energy.
I have just ordered The Living Secret and look forward to the read.
Quick couple of questions. Perhaps J.P. can answer these if no one else can. There is a review on Amazon that states Robert Collier wrote his books because they could be marketed well in that era and not because he believed it or lived it. I was horrified to read that. I don't believe it but it bothered me. Robert Collier is like a trusted friend, my go to guy in my expansive library.
Second I have a copy of the book Secret of Ages with a preface by Gordon Collier. The book seems a bit different. Who was Gordon Collier?
Lastly, the new version of Secret of the Ages is quite different than the original editions I have an in my library. We're these changes made by Robert Collier himself or those that came after him?
Robert Collier has had a great deal to do with any success I have had and will have and for that I am grateful.
Robert Gordon Collier was Robert Collier's oldest son. When Robert Collier fell ill, his wife and son took over the publishing company. After Robert's death, his son tried to improve on this book. However, when the rest of the siblings took over after Robert Gordon's death, they returned to the original text written by Robert Collier, Senior. Robert Collier very definitely believed in what he wrote about. He lived by the same principles found in all his books. In The Living Secret is an interesting story of how Robert Collier came to write, Riches Within Your Reach. It was a turning point in his life which demonstrated how much he lived The Secret theme found in all his books.
